A fourth-generation hotel operator, Gurtner currently serves as Managing Partner of Global Hotel Consultants LLC, a San Francisco-based company he founded in 2011. In his role at the helm of this premier consulting firm, Thomas Gurtner advises hotel and resort professionals on issues related to industry success, such as cost control and acquisitions, while offering prospective hoteliers insight on crucial aspects of entry into the business. Prior to launching his current company, Thomas Gurtner dedicated more than two decades to the illustrious Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, where he served as Regional Vice President and General Manager. During his tenure at this family of hotels, Gurtner garnered AAA Five Diamond and Mobil Five-Star awards for a range of Four Seasons properties, including locations in Newport Beach and Westlake, California, as well as in Hong Kong. In 1993, Gurtner directed the opening of the company?s world-renowned Four Seasons Hotel New York. Earlier in his career, Gurtner worked for Westin Hotels & Resorts, filling the dual roles of General Manager and Vice President. Over the course of his tenure at Westin, he directed the opening of The Westin Washington, D.C., a flagship hotel for the company, as well as The Westin Maui in Hawaii.
