Board-certified in plastic surgery, Dr. Richard D'Amico has been serving patients from the tri-state area surrounding New York City since 1986, when he opened his practice in Englewood, New Jersey. He serves as Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, and is affiliated with both the Holy Name Hospital in neighboring Teaneck, and with New York City's Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he also serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dedicated to his profession's advancement, Dr. Richard D'Amico sits on the Executive Committee of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons' (ASPS) Board of Directors, and served the society as President in 2008. He also chairs the Legislation Committee and sits on the Innovative Technology Committee of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). Dr. Richard D'Amico performs primarily aesthetic plastic surgery, including such procedures as tummy tucks, chin implants, post-bariatric surgery, liposuction, cleft lip and palate, and skin cancer reconstruction. As a member of ASAPS' Innovative Technology Committee, he is always aware of new developments in the field, and he enthusiastically embraces new technologies when appropriate. For instance, Dr. D'Amico is pioneering the use of a new technique called Coolsculpting, a non-invasive method of identifying and eliminating stubborn pockets of fat. In another promising development, the medical research company Invasix has devised non- and minimally invasive techniques, using specially designed tools and devices, to remove fat deposits while contouring and firming the underlying muscle tissue. Recognizing the therapeutic effect of the enhanced self-esteem that usually follows aesthetic plastic surgery, Dr. Richard D'Amico donates his professional services, performing reconstructive surgery on children with deformities resulting from birth defects, disease, and accidents. As Surgical Director of Healing the Children New Jersey, Inc., he has performed procedures at various locations in Africa, Asia, and Central America. Dr. D'Amico also sits on the Board of the Reconstructive Surgeons Volunteer Program (RSVP).
