Mark Bjerknes
Mark Bjerknes has been in the technology and securities industries for more than two decades. His experience is concentrated in exchange trading and surveillance systems design, development and implementation. During his career, Mark Bjerknes has guided capital market automation efforts in developed and emerging markets, designed and developed trading system front-ends and market surveillance systems, and held central positions in technology and financial services companies. He has managed the development and implementation of continuous matching, semi-automated matching, and displayed and dark call auction systems for equity and fixed-income products. Mark Bjerknes has led trading system development and implementation projects for floor-based and fully automated markets, and has developed and implemented equities, options and fixed income surveillance systems for automated and hybrid markets. He has steered multi-organizational, multi-national teams to develop and install exchange trading systems in U.S. and overseas exchanges, working closely with market constituents to define how various instruments trade in an automated environment, including trading methodologies and rules, and to secure necessary regulatory approvals. Among these were some of the earliest distributed-architecture exchange trading systems deployed. Early on in his career, Mark Bjerknes worked in the commercial software industry, focusing on product development and product management for a desktop software product line. The product line, a statistical analysis, scientific graphics and data management software suite, won awards from several leading industry publications.
