Marco Bitran


Marco Bitran is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AI Exchange, Inc., located in Boston, Massachusetts. AI Exchange, which was a semi-finalist in Harvard Business School's Alumni New Venture Contest, is a technology financial services company. The firm offers new ways for financial advisers to access alternative investment strategies. Marco Bitran raised $1.5 million in venture capital to develop the necessary technology for innovations in trading and allocation software. Following his graduation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Marco Bitran worked as an Engineer in the Cellular Systems Division of Qualcomm, in San Diego, California, where he developed voice processing algorithms for phones. In 1998, he founded Digital Entertainment Media, Inc., in San Francisco. The company provided Internet streaming services to medium-sized websites. In 1999, Marco Bitran started working for Morgan Stanley in Menlo Park, California. As a Financial Analyst in the Investment Banking Division, he focused primarily on technology and telecommunications sectors. As an Equity Research Associate in telecommunications equipment, Bitran was one of the first to predict the upcoming industry slowdown. In 2003 Marco Bitran joined Wellington Management Company in Boston as a Sector-Fund Manager and Global Industry Analyst. At Wellington, he managed a $1 billion global sector fund focused on infrastructure and capital goods. Later, as founder and Portfolio Manager of Clearstream Investments, LLC (also known as GMB Capital Management, LLC), Bitran grew an exchange-traded fund to $550 million in assets using models developed by MIT professor Gabriel R. Bitran and MIT graduate Shioulin Sam. Marco Bitran earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Economics from MIT, and a Master's in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He captained MIT's NCAA Division I rowing team to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) finals. Bitran is also a member of the Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, and Sigma Xi national honor societies. He speaks fluent Portuguese and enjoys world traveling, hiking, and photography.
