David Pflieger
David Pflieger?s current responsibilities as CEO and Managing Director of Fiji-based Air Pacific, Ltd., build on more than 20 years of experience in military and commercial piloting and as an aviation industry executive. Having successfully turned around corporate performance of Fiji?s national carrier over the past two years, David Pflieger additionally serves as Chairman of the Board at Tourism Fiji. From 2004 to 2006, David Pflieger held responsibilities as Vice President - Operations Control Center and Airline Project Manager with Virgin America, Inc., developing and implementing a plan to launch the low-cost airline and building the operations control center and programs designed for the operation of more than 50 aircraft. He served as sole advisor to the CEO, board, and shareholders on these operational development elements, additionally guiding FAA and Department of Transport certification. David Pflieger later served Virgin America as Senior Vice President - Legal & Government Affairs, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and A320 Captain. He was an integral part of a four-member, startup leadership team that successfully expanded Virgin America?s corporate footprint from 14 initial members to 1,300 employees, $500 million in revenue, and 28 aircraft. Mr. Pflieger?s firm notably achieved Travel & Leisure and Conde Nast ranking as ?Best Domestic Airline? from 2008 to 2010, developing the industry?s first-ever, fully outsourced aircraft maintenance program. Upon joining Air Pacific, Ltd. in 2010, David Pflieger implemented a ?people-first? approach that significantly improved customer service, while driving flight on-time performance and reliability rates. He has since overseen aircraft additions and groundings, focused on maintaining a reliable and modern fleet, notably obtaining scarce delivery slots for three new A330-200 aircraft. A former U.S. Air Force pilot and instructor, David Pflieger earned his JD and MBA degrees at Emory University in Atlanta.
