Badge Magic
Founded in 2004, Badge Magic provides an innovative solution for attaching badges to uniforms, including official uniforms of the Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the USA, and Scouts Canada. Developed by a Boy Scout leader specifically for Scout uniforms, Badge Magic uses a peel-and-stick fabric adhesive that eliminates the need for sewing and will not loosen in the wash. Dave Herbig created the technology behind Badge Magic. He grew up participating in Boy Scouts, while his wife, Danita, took part in Girl Scouts, as did her mother. When the Herbigs? own son, Davis, became old enough, he also joined the Scouts, and Dave and Danita took on leadership roles in his pack and troop. As a Scout leader, Dave witnessed constant displeasure at needing to sew on each individual badge, from both parents and children. In many cases, it would take months for parents to finish sewing the badges onto their Scouts? uniforms. Ever the entrepreneur, Dave set to work inventing a simpler method. Collaborating with an industrial designer, he tried a couple of different approaches before developing a revolutionary pressure-sensitive adhesive system that allowed for easy application, stayed on after dozens of washings, and came off using widely available adhesive removers when needed. Thus, Badge Magic was born. Today, Badge Magic has customized its technology for several organizations besides Scouts, including AWANA, American Legion, Pioneer Clubs, and American Heritage Girls. Badge Magic also manufactures and distributes hemming tape made from the same formula as its badge applicators. For more on the full product line, visit www.badgemagic.com.
